ClickZ Blogs

August 22, 2005 by Pamela Parker

Talk about an eventful day. I’m back on the job at ClickZ after six weeks of maternity leave, and ClickZ is blogging! Yes, we’ve finally, officially taken the plunge. We think it’ll be a great complement to our news reporting, and we look forward to building bloggy relationships with readers. Rebecca Lieb wrote a bit more about ClickZ’s blogging aims here. Yes, I’ll still be blogging here at The-River.net, though things will probably continue to be sporadic until little Callum gets a wee bit more independent.

And now, back to six weeks of accumulated e-mail.

UPDATE: RSS feed is here.

Big Cheese Stories

July 5, 2005 by Pamela Parker

A deliciously-written marketing blog from the folks at Murray’s Cheese shop on Bleecker Street in NYC (and online at murrayscheese.com). They do an amazing job online. I’ve already decided we must have champagne in the delivery room. Should raw milk cheese also be on the list of formerly-forbidden food to be included in celebratory snacking? Hmm… (The Cheese Board Collective — a shop with a Murray’s-like selection and a Berkeley “power-to-the-people” ethos — happens to be on the way to the hospital.)

Being a Statistic

Take the MIT Weblog Survey

Like others, I’ve participated in the MIT Media Lab blogger survey. It wasn’t especially time consuming. It’ll be interesting to see how it all turns out.

In case I don’t post again today let me wish everyone in the U.S. a happy Independence Day. Here’s hoping the long holiday weekend affords opportunities for relaxation!

Honored to be Feedster XML Feed of the Day

June 13, 2005 by Pamela Parker

I’m honored to have been chosen (by whatever process is in place) as Feedster XML feed of the day. Welcome to any new visitors to The-River.net. Blogging here has been, and will likely continue to be, somewhat light, as homeownership happens, pregnancy reaches its peak (36 weeks now), etc., but I’ll be returning to the primary topics of media, marketing, advertising, word-of-mouth, search, etc. in the not-too-distant future. Hang in there. I am.

Thanks to Zach for the heads up.

UPDATE: Feedster’s director of marketing Beverly Parenti just e-mailed me to let me know I’d been chosen. From her e-mail:

“Feed of the Day” is a service we provide for Feedster users, pointing them toward a new or timely or under-appreciated or just plain unexpected RSS feed.

Don’t know exactly where I fit in there, but it’s very nice.

Blogs & Brands Podcast

May 26, 2005 by Pamela Parker

My colleagues over at JupiterResearch are podcasting. And as this initial effort is about blogs and brands, I thought I’d pass the info along.

The official announcement is here.

also: Gartenberg, pointing to Seattle PI, notes how difficult the production of a podcast is.

On Blogging and Intimacy

May 13, 2005 by Pamela Parker

Julie Leung has a wonderful, thoughtful post on the intimacies (and lack thereof) of blogging.

We are aching for the real, wrote Evelyn Rodriguez. We long to be intimate with each other. To be who we are. We long for truth. We long to touch. Blogging allows us to come close – to come close to each other and to ourselves. If we are brave, we can type and say the insides of our souls for the world to see. But yet, I believe, there is always a veil.
